Accepting of Intolerance
Presentation
This is a presentation that I gave orignally for the Introduction to Women's Studies course and then again as a dormintory event. The central idea is that as a social minority is moving from the margins and into the mainstream, we need to become aware of all the hateful messages that have become normal in our lives. I plan to record this and post it as a Quicktime movie eventually. Contact: Abe Buko

Feminist Past, Patriarchal Present
Presentation
Like the Accepting of Intolerance lecture, I gave this one for the Introduction to Women's Studies course, and will soon be giving an expanded version of it as a campus event. In the presentation, we explore seven different societies or groups of societies that at one point celebrated same-sex attraction, transgenderism, or the idea of a third gender, but currently have illegalized or otherwise placed stigma on those behaviors. I plan to record this and post it as a Quicktime movie eventually. Contact: Abe Buko

End Points
Photography, Digital Media
I am collaborating with my friend Miko on this one. He is a professional photographer and I have had this photo idea in my head for years now. Basically it's going to be a series of photographs showing the various ways commodification and globalization affect us and others. It's still in the early planning stages, so more to come later. Digital Animation
This is basically going to be a 5 minute version of the Accepting of Intolerance presentation. I am working with my friend Justin, who is a professional digital animator. Our ultimate goal is for it to be viral funny, but pointed and useful. Contact: Abe Buko

A How-to Book
After a year or so of teaching people who to use computers who have never used one before, I've begun to notice some trends and similarities to other areas of study. Namely, I'm writing a book that first shows that learning how to use a computer is like learning a new language, and then teaches the reader how to use a computer, with the language aspect in mind. Because I work for Apple Inc, anything I create that is as a result of working there belongs to them. So, the project is currently in limbo while I see what Apple may do with my work, if anything (probably nothing). Contact: Abe Buko
